How it works here

Working to Europe practice.

European projects often work in openBIM: models exchanged as IFC so that teams on different software can collaborate. Standards have converged on ISO 19650 for information management and EN 17412-1 for describing the level of information need.

National practice still varies. Germany, the Nordics, the Netherlands and others each have their own guidelines and classification systems. We ask for yours at the start and build to them.

Standards and requirements

What matters here.

Requirements differ by project and owner. Treat this as a guide and send us your project’s own documents: they govern.

1

EN ISO 19650

The European adoption of the ISO 19650 series on information management using BIM.

2

EN 17412-1

Describes Level of Information Need: the geometric, alphanumeric and documentary information a model element should carry for its purpose.

3

IFC and openBIM

IFC is the open exchange schema. We deliver IFC alongside native Revit models and test that exports map properties correctly.

4

Public procurement

EU Directive 2014/24/EU allows member states to require BIM tools on public works, and many have introduced requirements.

5

National guidelines

Country and client guidelines (and classification such as national or CCI systems) are applied where specified.

Units and conventions

Metric.

Working hours

About five to six hours of overlap with a central European office day (09:00 to 14:00 CET, to 15:00 in summer time).

Time-zone note

Hours assume a 09:30 to 18:30 IST working day, which Sactik will confirm. Daylight saving moves the overlap by an hour.

Typical workflow

How a project runs.

  1. 01Share the national or client BIM guideline and template
  2. 02We confirm information need, naming and IFC mapping in writing
  3. 03IFC exports are checked before delivery
  4. 04Issues are tracked in your platform or a shared log

Questions

Europe, answered.

Can you deliver IFC?

Yes. We export IFC from our Revit models and check that classification and properties come through as your project needs.

Do you know the level of information need approach?

We map the information need in your project documents to the content and parameters of each model element.

Which European languages can you work in?

Our working language is English. Drawings can be labeled to your standard if you supply the terms.
